Osteomyology
What is Osteomyology?
The term Osteomyology combines osteo (bone) and myo (muscle), reflecting a focus on both joints and muscles in therapy. Osteomyologists come from a variety of professional backgrounds—such as Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, and Massage—and share their expertise to provide integrated care. The goal is to offer a unified approach to physical therapy so patients don’t have to choose between different treatment styles.
Our Approach
This approach uses a holistic method to treat symptoms while identifying their root causes. It focuses on restoring balance and efficiency in the body, helping it function with minimal wear and tear. Treatment addresses a range of musculoskeletal issues and supports overall well-being.
Conditions Commonly Treated
Commonly addressed concerns include back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, sciatica, arthritic pain, repetitive strain injury (RSI), general aches and pains, hip and knee pain, and sports injuries.
What to Expect from Treatment
Every treatment is tailored to the individual. Your initial session includes a detailed medical history and lifestyle assessment, followed by a physical assessment involving simple movement tests to aid diagnosis. Treatment typically includes hands-on techniques such as stretching, mobilisation, and manipulation. You will also receive advice on exercises and lifestyle changes to support long-term health.
Training & Standards
Practitioners are trained in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology, orthopedics, and more. All members follow strict standards set by the Osteomyological Association. Each practitioner brings a unique style to their work, while maintaining professional consistency and safety.
